This blanket parades 3 BIG elephants and one Baby elephant across each end of the blanket. The pattern is designed with the elephants feet pointing towards the edge, so there is no top or bottom. Either edge can be used as the top. Knitting an upside down pattern is a little disconcerting, but the pattern includes line by line stitch counts as well as a reference graphs for each design.
This pattern also includes directions for knitting a blanket with all BIG elephants or all baby elephants.
The blanket was knit in worsted weight yarn (800yds) on a size 7 circular needle. The gauge of 5 stitches and 6.5 rows per inch gives a finished blanket size of approximately 35” X 31”.
For a smaller blanket in DK weight yarn (800 yds.), use a size 5 circular needle. The gauge of 6 stitches and 8 rows per inch gives a finished blanket size of approximately 29” X 29”.
